300 people in China Food Poisoning

BEIJING - Two cases of food poisoning in the province of Hunan and Shaanxi, China, over the weekend has made ​​300 people hospitalized.

In Changsha, capital city of Hunan Province, Central China, as many as 286 villagers rushed to the hospital to be checked and 91 people diagnosed with food poisoning after visiting the wedding reception.

A nurse from the ER Xiangya Hospital, Central South University in Changsha explained, alleged food poisoning from consuming clenbuterol, a substance used to increase the amount of meat in pigs.

Nurses are added, 15 patients were in critical condition, including children and a pregnant woman. While other victims have symptoms of mild poisoning, they have now been discharged from the hospital.

"Officials from the central control and prevention of disease arrived last night, and I heard a mass poisoning may be linked with the consumption of clenbuterol," the nurse said as reported by China Daily on Monday (4/25/2011).

The experts explained that the consumption of meat and innards are exposed to clenbuterol will cause dizziness, headache, trembling hands, palpitations, anxiety and other symptoms. Greater risk can endanger those with heart disease.
